The SEAL-HYDROGEN project has marked another significant step forward with the successful conclusion of its V Consortium Meeting, held in Valencia (Spain) and hosted by our industrial partner, Matteco.
This crucial gathering brought together representatives from our entire industry-academia consortium, including HORIBA, Siemens Energy, Matteco, the Helmholtz-Institut Erlangen-Nürnberg für Erneuerbare Energien (HI ERN) and the Universitat de València.
The meeting provided an invaluable platform for partners to share comprehensive updates on their investigations and align strategic decisions as the project enters its final phase. Gonzalo Abellán, project coordinator, led the high-level discussions by outlining the latest technical advances, reviewing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and addressing the roadmap for the upcoming months.
Shaping the Final Phase of the Project
As the 36-month initiative progresses, the consortium focused heavily on the optimization of our next-generation alkaline water electrolysis technology. The core discussions revolved around:
- Technical Milestones: Evaluating the performance, activity, and stability of our triple-phase boundary electrode structures and highly efficient CRM-free catalysts.
- Strategic Roadmap: Setting the parameters and technical pouts that will dictate the final stretch of the research and development phase.
- Scale-Up Vision: Refining the realistic deployment strategy to transition our zero-gap AWE technology into larger-scale systems evaluated under real operating conditions.
The consortium reinforced its shared vision, concluding the meeting with a strong emphasis on accelerating the commercial uptake of water electrolysis to make green hydrogen an economically viable, low-cost solution. Looking ahead, the upcoming months will serve as a motivating period for the joint validation of all technical & experimental results obtained throughout the project’s lifespan.
These regular face-to-face interactions remain invaluable for strengthening our partnerships and successfully advancing our shared project goals. A sincere thank you to the Matteco team for their warm welcome and outstanding hospitality in Valencia!
